Backend Engineer

TL;DR

Backend Engineer (Python/Data Infrastructure): Building and maintaining scalable data ingestion services and pipelines for a global media ecosystem with an accent on API design, cloud infrastructure, and automation. Focus on designing high-performance data systems, implementing infrastructure as code, and optimizing data processing workflows.

Location: Must be based in Copenhagen, Denmark (Hybrid: 4 days/week in office).

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable data ingestion services and pipelines using Python.
• Develop and integrate external REST APIs to process diverse data sources.
• Manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform to ensure secure and reproducible environments.
• Evolve internal web services to expose platform capabilities to other engineering teams.
• Optimize data access and performance, with opportunities to develop critical components in compiled languages.
• Implement best practices for CI/CD, testing, and observability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend or software engineering focused on data-intensive systems.
• Exceptional proficiency in Python for backend development and automation.
• Proven experience designing and consuming web services and APIs.
• Hands-on expertise with Terraform for cloud infrastructure management.
• Strong understanding of automation, CI/CD pipelines, and version control.
• Must be based in or able to work from Copenhagen, with a hybrid office presence required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with adtech or martech data and terminology.
• Interest in high-performance languages like Scala, Rust, or Go.
