Senior Backend Engineer (Data Privacy)

TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (Python/GDPR): Building and operating the GDPR Orchestrator platform to manage the data lifecycle and privacy engineering across hirify.global with an accent on API contract design, data modeling, and scalability. Focus on creating self-serve tooling for data rules and coordinating cross-area data dependencies to ensure privacy-by-design.

Location: Must be legally eligible to work in France, Belgium, or Spain. Remote work flexibility is offered, though in-person collaboration is valued.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the GDPR Orchestrator core engine, focusing on safety mechanisms, audit trails, and operational health.
• Develop a "paved road" of documentation, templates, and self-serve tooling to enable other product areas to manage their own data rules.
• Coordinate between legal, security, and data teams to align requirements and resolve design trade-offs.
• Expand the platform's reach across various data stores and third-party systems as the company grows into new countries.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in backend or platform software engineering with deep production ownership.
• Experience building and operating platforms or libraries that other engineers depend on.
• Ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
• Legally eligible to work in France, Belgium, or Spain.
• English: C1 (fluent) required.

• Prior exposure to GDPR, privacy, or data-governance.
• Experience working within an enabling or platform-team operating model.
