TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (AI SaaS): Building and scaling AI-driven agent platforms with an accent on high-performance architecture, database optimization, and production reliability. Focus on designing scalable systems, integrating AI models into production, and mentoring the engineering team to deliver high-impact product features.

Location: Must be eligible to work in Spain. Hybrid model with flexibility to work remotely or from the Barcelona office.

What you will do

  • Partner with Product to turn business goals into clear technical strategies and plans.
  • Design and evolve systems that scale with traffic, data complexity, and AI-driven use cases.
  • Write clean, maintainable code while continuously improving practices and quality.
  • Mentor and support the team, leading by example in code, reviews, and collaboration.
  • Manage technical debt by making it visible, measurable, and actionable.
  • Safeguard delivery pace by reducing blockers and keeping flow sustainable.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Eligibility to work in Spain.
  • Experience with modern backend stacks like Node.js, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Proficiency with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL) and NoSQL systems (Redis, MongoDB).
  • Proven experience building web applications at scale and working with distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience operating services in production environments with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI/ML APIs, vector databases, or data pipelines.
  • Experience with Domain-Driven Design.
