What you will do

• Take technical ownership of the Java client and JDBC driver, managing the roadmap and API design.
• Drive throughput and latency optimizations across the client and hirify.global server.
• Collaborate with the Connectors team to support integrations for Kafka, Flink, and Spark.
• Engage with external partners to align roadmaps and resolve interoperability issues.
• Ship measurable improvements in stability, performance, and overall developer experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focusing on data-intensive systems (drivers, SDKs, CDC, or analytics).
• Deep Java and JVM expertise, including memory model, GC tuning, and profiling.
• Proven experience building or extending libraries used by other engineers.
• Strong understanding of SQL, query execution, and OLAP workloads.
• Expertise in JVM concurrency, including reactive streams and connection pooling.
• Comfortable working in the open and engaging with the open-source community.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of JDBC internals, ADBC, or Apache Arrow / Arrow Flight SQL.
• Experience designing wire protocols or network clients.
• Contributions to open-source data infrastructure like Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
• Experience with hirify.global or other columnar/OLAP engines.
