Location: Hybrid in Madrid, Spain (3 days per week in the office)

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
• Develop integration layers with third-party insurance and assurance providers.
• Build systems supporting the full Trip Protection lifecycle from quoting and purchase to claims and refunds.
• Create observable and testable backend workflows consumed by internal and external partners.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, compliance, and finance teams to deliver platform capabilities across multiple markets.
• Support production systems through monitoring, debugging, and operational improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (or 3+ years with a Master's degree).
• Strong proficiency in JVM technologies (Java and Kotlin preferred) and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing APIs and integrations between distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and scalable data access patterns.
• Must be based in Madrid, Spain for a hybrid work model (3 days/week in office).

Nice to have

• Experience in travel, fintech, insurance, or e-commerce domains.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
• Familiarity with compliance-sensitive systems and operational workflows.
• Exposure to frontend or customer-facing flows.
