What you will do

• Own and evolve the Wallet subdomain, managing the full lifecycle of fiat and crypto wallets for all customer types.
• Collaborate across internal domains including Digital Assets, Fiat, Onboarding, and Billing.
• Design and build scalable services following hexagonal architecture patterns, including HPA tuning and DLQ handling.
• Maintain operational excellence by participating in on-call rotations, incident response, and production monitoring.
• Ship high-quality, well-tested code and contribute to technical design submissions and architecture reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS), and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Proven experience building account or wallet systems where correctness and auditability are critical.
• Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and hexagonal architecture.
• Ability to design and evolve RESTful APIs with attention to backwards compatibility.
• Must be located in South Africa, Bulgaria, Poland, or Spain.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenant architectures and tenant migration patterns.
• Background in embedded finance, BaaS, or B2B2C payment platforms.
• Experience with database migrations in high-throughput systems.
• Familiarity with stablecoins, crypto, or blockchain-adjacent products.
