Staff Software Developer (Full stack): Contributing to key parts of retail systems by owning high-leverage features and complex coding projects with an accent on planning/architecture, incident response, and enabling sustainable engineering practices. Focus on solving boundary-spanning problems across squads and improving system reliability through strong operational ownership, mentoring, and risk-aware delivery.

Location: Must be located in Canada and able to work within EST/EDT hours. Choice of fully remote, partially remote, or fully office-based work environments (including cities with local offices).

Salary: $175000–$190000 CAD (total compensation range for candidates hired to perform work within Ontario).

What you will do

• Own and deliver features and high-leverage coding projects across multiple products based on skillset and preference.
• Build and improve systems through coding, code reviews, hard debugging, peer programming, incident response, and reverse-engineering tasks.
• Drive planning and architecture: estimate work, collaborate with product, and establish MVPs.
• Enable engineering excellence via shared libraries, documentation, evolving best practices, and contributions to open source content.
• Mentor and coach engineers through learning, chapter reviews, research/meetups, and ongoing development.
• Identify delivery risks for complex features and propose ways to avoid pitfalls.

Requirements

• Location/time zone: must be located in Canada and able to work within EST/EDT hours.
• Extensive staff-level experience with a proven track record handling large-scale incidents and system failures, resulting in stronger architectures and lasting runbooks.
• Deep systems thinking with proficiency in at least one relevant tech stack for complex full stack architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding and deployment strategies.
• Ability to simplify complex technical tradeoffs for stakeholders and peers and communicate risks with a data-driven approach.
• Principled, pragmatic technical leadership with strong ownership and advocacy for the customer.
