Senior Software Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails/Go): Design, prototype, implement, ship, and support highly performant systems for the hirify.global Issues Platform with an accent on reliability, scalability, and developer experience. Focus on building and operating GraphQL APIs and REST endpoints, maintaining Ruby on Rails applications, and improving service health through instrumentation, monitoring, and SLO management.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality solutions that scale across multiple hirify.global services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership through mentorship and code reviews
• Build and operate GraphQL APIs and REST endpoints as reusable building blocks for product teams
• Maintain and extend Ruby on Rails applications while contributing to new Go services
• Improve reliability via instrumentation, monitoring, SLO management, and incident response (on-call/first responder rotations)
• Use CI/CD tools to set up automated pipelines for continuous integration and delivery

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent education/experience combinations)
• Proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, with experience building and maintaining large-scale web applications
• Experience building scalable API/backend/web services in Go
• Deep understanding of large-scale distributed systems (consistency, reliability, performance)
• Experience participating in on-call rotations and incident response, including root cause analysis and postmortems

Nice to have

• 2+ years in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python)
• 3+ years with cloud environments and/or CNCF concepts
• Experience with observability tooling, SLO/SLI practices, and reducing incident volume through proactive monitoring
• Experience with GraphQL at scale (schemas, resolvers, federated architectures)
