Manager Development FCC (Fintech)

Location: Flexible hybrid schedule in Toronto at 483 Bay Street, moving to the Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway approximately in late 2026. Current work authorization for Canada is required.

Annual base salary: $176,000–$188,000 CAD, plus a discretionary performance bonus.

Fidelity Clearing Canada provides trade execution, clearing, custody, and back-office support services to Canadian brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms.

What you will do

• Lead backend development teams delivering and modernizing client-facing web solutions, secure integrations, and business-critical applications.
• Manage capacity, priorities, sprint commitments, roadmaps, delivery risks, and stakeholder communications across multiple workstreams.
• Oversee releases, deployments, application upgrades, Level 3 production support, incident response, root-cause analysis, and defect remediation.
• Coordinate Control-M batch orchestration, data loading and extraction, report generation, reconciliation, dependency management, monitoring, and recovery procedures.
• Guide Java REST services, SQL and database design, microservices, event-driven messaging, secure API patterns, testing, and operational readiness.
• Coach, mentor, assess, and develop Team Leads and developers while building an accountable, high-performing engineering team.

Requirements

• Current authorization to work in Canada.
• 5+ years of progressive software engineering experience and 3+ years of direct engineering management experience.
• Experience managing hiring, onboarding, performance, coaching, career development, and team succession.
• Strong experience with Java, REST services, microservices or service-oriented architecture, secure integrations, Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Experience with Control-M or comparable enterprise scheduling platforms and complex data-processing workflows.
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server and/or Oracle, including database design, query tuning, performance improvement, and business-critical production support.

Nice to have

• Wealth management, brokerage, payments, banking, or fintech experience.
• Canadian Securities Course completion.
• Experience with AI-enabled development tools, Dataphile, Broadridge, Snowflake, Talend, or modern web frameworks such as Angular or React.
