Software Engineer, Sr Specialist (Java)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Base pay: $104,000–$148,000 per year, plus annual bonus/commission, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain real-time trading systems for mission-critical derivatives market operations.
• Review system requirements and translate them into scalable, reliable software solutions.
• Write, test, debug, and implement software across the full development lifecycle.
• Mentor team members and drive continuous improvements in system performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet demanding performance and security standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Java programming skills and knowledge of object-oriented design principles.
• Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and deliver high-quality code.
• Clear communication skills and experience in collaborative, fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or specialization in financial markets, finance, or mathematics.
• Experience with high-performance, low-latency, mission-critical systems.
• Familiarity with AWS, cloud platforms, or AI/ML technologies.
