Senior Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: $190,100–$285,100 USD for Pleasanton; $160,100–$285,100 USD for additional US locations. The role may also include bonus and stock grants.

What you will do

• Design and build core platform capabilities for AI-powered agentic developer experiences and workflows.
• Develop reliable, scalable services and tools, including public APIs and SDKs used by external developers.
• Drive complex engineering initiatives from concept through production, defining success metrics and coordinating stakeholders.
• Contribute to architecture and build-versus-integrate decisions for platform components.
• Establish API governance covering versioning, backward compatibility, and security.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through reviews, design feedback, pairing, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and senior-level ownership of complex production systems.
• 8+ years of JVM-based backend development with Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• 8+ years of TypeScript/JavaScript experience, including React.
• 5+ years developing RESTful APIs and managing complex third-party integrations.
• 5+ years deploying and operating production services in cloud-native environments.
• Experience with LLM integration, agentic architectures, MCP, streaming APIs, testing, observability, and CI/CD workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangChain or comparable LLM orchestration frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, or Helm.
