What you will do
- Manage claims and claims volume through proper staffing and active oversight of incoming, reopened, and potentially transferred claims based on severity or complexity.
- Implement and execute Best Practices, including reserve setting and reserve timeliness, comprehensive coverage analysis, and claim-handling strategy aligned to KPIs.
- Drive KPI adherence through managerial diary and file audits; review and approve coverage correspondence, especially denials and sensitive/complex coverage issues.
- Lead litigation management and strategy within the direct team and across the wider Claims organization to improve effectiveness and scale efficiencies.
- Identify, assess, and escalate key issues, trends, and emerging risks to senior claims management; act as escalation point for customer and broker concerns.
- Support the Director with reserve analysis and claims trends and collaborate with Underwriting and Actuarial teams via feedback loops.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of claims handling experience; a JD from an ABA-accredited law school may count as additional claims handling experience.
- 5+ years of Commercial General Liability claims experience covering Bodily Injury, Product Liability, Personal and Advertising Injury, and 3rd Party Property Damage; Construction Defect claim handling is a plus.
- 4+ years of claims management experience.
- Expert knowledge of claims handling practices, including coverage analysis, litigation management, and negotiation.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to manage through uncertainty and change.
- Insurance adjuster license(s), or willingness to obtain them.
