TL;DR
Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medtech): Designing and developing patient monitoring consumables for physiologic sensing applications with an accent on optomechanical design, manufacturability, and patient safety. Focus on leading the full product lifecycle from concept development and prototyping through design transfer and sustaining engineering.
Location: Must be based in Lafayette, Colorado (Onsite 4 days per week)
Salary: $105,600 - $158,400

What you will do
- Lead mechanical product design activities including concept development, prototyping, and design transfer.
- Own complex design tasks balancing performance, manufacturability, usability, and patient safety.
- Develop product specifications, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation with full traceability.
- Apply engineering analysis methods such as GD&T, tolerance analysis, and finite element modeling.
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate sensor adhesion, durability, and optical performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including quality, regulatory, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility.
Requirements
- Must possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Materials Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Advanced degree with 2+ years.
- Proven experience in an engineering role within the medical device industry.
- Expertise in CAD design, preferably using SolidWorks.
- Ability to lead technical workstreams and coordinate cross-functional activities.
- Must be able to work onsite in Lafayette, Colorado, at least 4 days per week.
Nice to have
- Experience with sensor development, thin films, adhesives, or flexible materials.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Minitab, or Ansys.
- Experience with tissue optics, spectroscopy, or oximetry systems.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or coach less experienced engineers.
