What you will do

• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team through rapid growth.
• Partner with technical leadership on product strategy and architectural decisions.
• Continue shipping production code while managing team output and performance.
• Scale engineering infrastructure to support real-time voice AI and large-scale communication systems.
• Ensure enterprise-grade reliability, observability, and incident response.
• Drive security and compliance standards within regulated financial systems.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in San Francisco, CA.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams in startup environments.
• Strong technical background in backend, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on with code while managing people.
• Track record of scaling engineering teams through periods of rapid growth.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with compliance frameworks like SOC 2, PCI DSS, or ISO 27001.
• Background in financial services or highly regulated industries.
• Experience scaling engineering organizations from 5 to 25+ members.
