What you will do

• Partner with the CTO to define and evolve the backend engineering strategy.
• Drive architectural consistency and engineering standards across multiple teams.
• Guide the modernization of the .NET monolith into a service-based, API-first platform.
• Champion secure software development practices and improve operational reliability.
• Act as a technical mentor and coach to elevate backend engineering quality.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide architectural guidance for platform initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK.
• Deep expertise in C#/.NET and TypeScript with commercial experience in large-scale backend systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and API design.
• Proven experience defining engineering standards across multiple teams or departments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services and cloud-native architecture.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing large monolithic applications.
• Experience building and operating SaaS platforms at scale.
• Knowledge of observability tooling and site reliability practices.
