TL;DR

Optical Modem Hardware Intern (Embedded/IoT): Supporting the design, implementation, and verification of electro-optical circuit boards for high-speed networking platforms with an accent on electrical and optical measurements. Focus on testing high-speed digital and analog control circuits, documenting test plans, and designing test jigs using Cadence Allegro.

Location: Must work onsite 5 days a week in Ottawa

Salary: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Test and verify complex electro-optical circuit packs under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
  • Conduct electrical and optical measurements using lab equipment ranging from DC to 100s of GHz.
  • Review and test high-speed, digital, analog control, and DC/DC power circuits.
  • Document test plans and reports while participating in cross-functional team meetings.
  • Design test jig circuits using the Cadence Allegro ECAD tool suite.

Requirements

  • Must be currently studying for a degree in Electrical, Optical, Computer, or Engineering Physics.
  • Must be able to work onsite 5 days a week in the lab and office.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a curiosity for solving problems across electronics, optics, and mechanical disciplines.

Nice to have

  • Experience with hands-on test and measurement equipment and automation scripts.
  • Knowledge of high-speed design and transmission line theory.
  • Understanding of Op-Amp, power circuits, and precision analog design.
  • Circuit design project experience and soldering skills.
