TL;DR
Director of Global Logistics (Defense): Building and owning end-to-end shipping, logistics, and export capabilities for a modern defense portfolio with an accent on ITAR/EAR compliance and scalable global operations. Focus on designing shipping workflows, managing complex international freight forwarding, and ensuring regulatory audit readiness.
Location: Onsite in El Segundo, California, United States. Relocation assistance provided.
Salary: $150,000 - $220,000

What you will do
- Build and own end-to-end shipping, logistics, and export capabilities for hardware movement.
- Ensure strict compliance with ITAR, EAR, FMS, and commercial export regulations.
- Manage routing, carrier selection, and freight forwarding for domestic and international channels.
- Stand up scalable shipping workflows, infrastructure, and standardized documentation processes.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program teams to ensure on-time delivery.
- Identify and mitigate customs and compliance risks, acting as the primary escalation point for failures.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in logistics, shipping, or global trade operations.
- Proven expertise in international shipping and freight forwarding.
- Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and export compliance requirements.
- Experience managing customs documentation and brokers.
- Experience building or scaling logistics operations from the ground up.
Nice to have
- Experience with defense or aerospace regulated hardware shipments.
- Familiarity with FMS and USG shipment requirements.
- Experience implementing logistics systems such as ERP, WMS, or TMS.
- Licensed Export Compliance Officer or similar certification.
- Experience managing 3PLs or freight forwarders at scale.
