Senior Software Engineer - API Platform (Python/Typescript)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Salary: €86,400–€129,600 EUR gross annual base salary

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end design and development of complex backend services, APIs, and platform features.
• Define evolvable API contracts and data models with product managers, architects, and partner teams using OpenAPI and internal standards.
• Build and improve high-throughput, low-latency, resilient services for mission-critical product flows.
• Design observability using metrics, tracing, and structured logging, and use data to improve reliability and SLOs.
• Develop frameworks, tools, and patterns for publishing and maintaining REST, GraphQL, and other APIs.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, RFCs, incident response, root-cause analysis, and engineer coaching.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing and building large-scale, mission-critical backend systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with TypeScript or Python and strong object-oriented or functional design skills.
• 4+ years of experience building and operating web service APIs at scale, including REST, SOAP, or GraphQL.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, consistency, fault tolerance, performance tuning, and API lifecycle management.
• Experience with API gateways or edge patterns, observability stacks, testing, cloud and containerized environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and translate product and AI/agent requirements into robust backend designs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Data Cloud, analytical stores, or MCP-style agent integration patterns.
• Experience with GraphQL and data-oriented APIs.
• Comfort using AI-assisted code generation tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
