PhD Position in Data and AI for Multi-Source Micromobility Safety Analytics (AI): Developing advanced data integration and explainable AI models to analyze micromobility risks and improve urban street safety with an accent on fusing heterogeneous data streams and predictive risk modeling. Focus on designing algorithms to detect unsafe behaviors and predicting emerging hazards to inform urban mobility planning.
Location: Delft, Netherlands. Relocation to the Netherlands is required.
Salary: €3,059 - €3,881 gross per month

What you will do
- Develop explainable AI models to represent how micromobility risks emerge and interact with infrastructure and behavior.
- Fuse heterogeneous data sources including crash records, shared micromobility traces, sensors, and traffic cameras.
- Design algorithms for detecting safety risks, identifying unsafe behaviors, and predicting emerging hazards.
- Test and refine models using XR experiments and pilot city sensor networks.
- Contribute to the development of the SAFE MOVE integrated data platform.
- Collaborate with European partners to translate results into actionable insights for the municipality of Amsterdam.
Requirements
- MSc degree in data science, computer science, or equivalent.
- Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in statistics and machine learning.
- Relocation to the Netherlands is required.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills for scientific publications and thesis.
- Interest or experience in road safety, mobility, or transportation research.
Nice to have
- Experience in machine learning.
- Experience developing a data platform.
