Senior Research Scientist (Generative AI): Researching and applying state-of-the-art AI/ML techniques to large-scale problems in recommender systems and NLP with an accent on information retrieval and product matching. Focus on developing scalable ML solutions, training transformer-based models, and driving innovation in generative AI and agentic research.

Location: Must be based in Spain (Home Office model with occasional meetings in Madrid)

Salary: EUR 55,300 - 65,000 per year

What you will do

• Research, evaluate, and adapt state-of-the-art AI techniques to solve large-scale business challenges.
• Drive innovation in Information Retrieval, Recommendation Systems, NLP, and Generative AI.
• Design advanced experiments and feasibility studies to guide technical strategy.
• Develop scalable, reproducible, and maintainable machine learning solutions and research frameworks.
• Collaborate with Applied AI and Engineering teams to enable adoption of research outcomes.
• Mentor team members and contribute to scientific publications and patents.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI, ML, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or AI research.
• Expertise in training transformer-based models for NLP, Recommendation Systems, or Product Matching.
• Advanced experience with Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.
• Experience with vector databases (e.g., FAISS, ChromaDB, Pinecone) and retrieval-based systems.
• Must be based in Spain.

Nice to have

• PhD and publications in leading conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, or ICML.
• Experience with RAG architectures, LLMs, and agent-based frameworks.
• Knowledge of Knowledge Graphs.
• Experience in retail, consumer intelligence, ecommerce, or FMCG domains.
• Proficiency with Databricks, SQL, and Elasticsearch.
