Livestock Value Chain Specialist (Agriculture): Providing high-level technical guidance for the development of competitive, conservation-linked livestock value chains for endangered indigenous breeds in Northwest Iran with an accent on international best practices and global market experience. Focus on enhancing sustainability, branding, traceability, and long-term economic viability of local livestock production systems.

Location: Home-Based. All employees must follow the UN-Iran workweek (Sunday to Thursday).

What you will do

  • Provide technical guidance for developing competitive value chains for endangered indigenous livestock breeds.
  • Integrate international best practices to enhance branding, traceability, and economic viability.
  • Coordinate with national experts and the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad (MAJ) in Iran.
  • Support the project team in achieving deliverables related to community-based breeding and conservation.
  • Contribute to the sustainable use of animal genetic resources in Northwest Iran.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Livestock Systems, Rural Development, or a related field.
  • Work experience in more than one country, preferably in dryland, pastoral, or biodiversity-sensitive production systems.
  • Commitment to hirify.global values of integrity, transparency, and respect for all.
  • Ability to work within the UN-Iran workweek schedule (Sunday to Thursday).
  • Academic credentials must be from an institution recognized in the IAU/UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
