TL;DR

Privacy & Data Protection Specialist (GDPR/PECR): Leads compliance with data protection regulations and standards, safeguarding sensitive information and mitigating privacy risk with cross-functional teams. Focus on privacy impact assessments, data protection audits, breach investigation and reporting, and strengthening privacy controls across the organisation.

What you will do

  • Support implementation of information security and cyber security policies and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Monitor compliance with data protection laws and regulations (e.g., UK GDPR, PECR).
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and data protection audits.
  • Develop and implement data privacy policies, procedures, and privacy controls.
  • Respond to data subject access requests and other privacy-related enquiries.
  • Investigate and report data breaches in line with legal requirements; update policies as legislation changes.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws such as GDPR and PECR.
  • Experience conducting privacy impact assessments and privacy audits.
  • Knowledge of security standards and best practices, including information security management frameworks and governance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Ability to identify and mitigate privacy/security risks and implement quality control processes.
  • Proficiency in cyber security tools/technologies and ability to identify and respond to cyber security incidents.
  • Communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally and provide training/guidance on data privacy best practices.
