Android Tech Lead (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the Android technical roadmap, architecture, technology choices, engineering standards, and long-term platform direction.
• Lead delivery across digital banking value streams, including planning, estimation, milestone tracking, risk management, and technical blocker resolution.
• Write production Kotlin code, review contributions, debug issues, and optimize application performance.
• Manage and mentor three Android engineers through 1:1s, feedback, technical development, hiring, and onboarding.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, iOS, QA, backend, and DevOps teams on product scope, APIs, testing, build pipelines, and release automation.
• Apply mobile security practices and support reliable, compliant handling of financial data in a regulated banking environment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of Android development experience with deep Kotlin expertise.
• 2+ years in a tech lead or senior engineering leadership role managing direct reports.
• Strong proficiency with Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Repository patterns, coroutines, Flow, and dependency injection with Hilt or Dagger.
• Experience with JUnit, Espresso, MockK, RESTful APIs, mobile networking, Android CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Bitrise, and Git workflows.
• Experience leading Android development in fintech, banking, or another regulated product environment.
• Ability to manage engineers, make architectural trade-offs, collaborate cross-functionally, and deliver high-quality products in a fast-moving startup.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital banking, account opening, loan origination, payment flows, credit unions, or community banks.
• Experience implementing mobile security in regulated financial services.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Copilot, or Cursor.
• Experience migrating Android interfaces from XML layouts to Jetpack Compose.
