What you will do

• Own the Android technical roadmap, including architectural decisions and long-term platform direction.
• Manage and mentor a team of three Android engineers through 1:1s, performance feedback, and code reviews.
• Contribute directly to production code, feature development, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with Product, iOS, and Backend teams to ensure consistent cross-platform behavior and API alignment.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing practices, and release readiness.
• Implement high-security standards for handling financial data, including certificate pinning and biometric authentication.

Requirements

• 6+ years of Android development experience with deep Kotlin expertise.
• 2+ years in a tech lead or senior leadership role managing direct reports.
• Strong proficiency in Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI development.
• Solid understanding of MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Repository patterns.
• Experience with Hilt/Dagger, Coroutines, Flow, and Android testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso).
• Must be based in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital banking platforms, loan origination, or payment flows.
• Familiarity with credit union or community bank technology environments.
• Experience migrating Android UI from XML layouts to Jetpack Compose.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools like Copilot or Cursor.
