What you will do

• Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for machine learning across the organization, aligning with company priorities.
• Lead the design and scaling of advanced ML systems and set the architectural direction for cross-functional initiatives.
• Partner with ML Platform, Product, and Risk leadership to shape long-term modeling capabilities and infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor senior engineers to elevate design and code quality.
• Resolve complex technical tensions and drive alignment on ambiguous, high-stakes technical decisions.
• Own the long-term health, availability, and reliability of critical ML systems through robust testing and monitoring.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in researching, designing, and operating large-scale real-time ML systems (PhD counts for 2 years).
• Experience in end-to-end ML system design, including data architecture, feature pipelines, and production deployment.
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and XGBoost.
• Experience with distributed frameworks (Spark, Ray) and ML tooling (Kubeflow, MLflow).
• Deep expertise in representation learning, Transformers, and neural network-based sequence modeling.
• Must be based in Canada.
