• Set and drive editorial direction for Future Perfect, Climate, Health, and Down to Earth teams.
• Shape rigorous, compelling coverage plans aligned with broader editorial and audience strategy.
• Manage and coach editors and writers, fostering a culture of high standards and career growth.
• Provide editorial guidance for The Gray Area video podcast and facilitate cross-platform collaborations.
• Partner with leadership on grant-funded projects and broader newsroom strategy.
• Champion internal culture through cross-functional projects and newsroom brainstorms.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of full-time editing experience in a fast-paced digital newsroom.
• Significant management experience, ideally including managing other editors.
• Strong editorial judgment with intellectual range across science, health, climate, and AI.
• Proven ability to provide direct feedback and develop editorial talent.
• Strategic thinking regarding audience growth, membership, and sustainability.
• Must be able to work onsite in NYC or DC.
