TL;DR

Intern, Test Engineering (Automotive): Contributing to the development and validation of electric vehicle components with an accent on performance, durability, and reliability. Focus on designing internal testing infrastructure and conducting mechanical, electrical, and thermal tests.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Garden Grove, CA (4 days in-office per week)

Compensation: $25-35 USD per hour

American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company developing a first-of-its-kind EV platform for medium-duty vehicles.

What you will do

• Test automotive components for performance, durability, and reliability under various conditions.
• Set up and operate test equipment for mechanical, electrical, and thermal components.
• Collect and analyze test data to evaluate component quality and functionality.
• Prepare test plans and document results in detailed reports for senior engineers.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to suggest component improvements.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• Familiarity with schematics, data acquisition hardware, and test scripting.
• Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T.
• Work authorized in the United States or ability to obtain a necessary work visa.

Nice to have

• Experience with CATIA 3DExperience for 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) architecture for electric powertrains.
• Proficiency in Python and LabVIEW.
• Prior experience in automotive projects.
• Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes.
