Senior Software Developer – DevOps

Location: Hybrid; required to report to the Markham Elevation Centre in Markham, Ontario at least three times per week.

Salary: CAD 115,000–164,600 per year.

What you will do

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for virtual ECUs, embedded software, and simulation artifacts.
• Automate build, testing, and packaging workflows across C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and model-based toolchains.
• Operate containerized simulation environments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement GitOps workflows and support consistent, reliable delivery across multiple clusters.
• Improve developer velocity through caching, artifact reuse, workflow simplification, and integrated observability.
• Enable cloud-based software-in-the-loop execution and large-scale parallel simulation in collaboration with embedded, simulation, and controls teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, CI/CD, automation, or software development.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, plus experience with containers and Kubernetes fundamentals.
• Familiarity with embedded or model-based development, including MATLAB/Simulink, code generation, or virtual ECUs.
• Understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as deployment strategies and release automation. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience with SIL/HIL pipelines, co-simulation frameworks, and virtualization platforms for virtual ECUs.
• Terraform or infrastructure-as-code expertise for multi-environment provisioning.
• Knowledge of automotive data flows across vehicle, local, and cloud environments.
• Experience with progressive delivery, including canary and blue-green deployments.
• Understanding of secure software supply chains, including SLSA, OPA, or Sigstore.
