TL;DR

Senior Sub-System Lead Engineer (Battery Management): Driving innovation in high-voltage battery state estimation and embedded vehicle mechatronics controls with an accent on requirements definition, system design, and cross-functional integration. Focus on building safe, accurate, and efficient battery performance solutions across diverse vehicle architectures using agile methodologies and model-based systems engineering.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Milford, Michigan (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office).

What you will do

  • Collaborate with system architects to define and manage complex software and behavioral requirements.
  • Lead subsystem design and DFMEA processes to ensure uniform solutions across vehicle architectures.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, including SSTS and behavioral test scenarios.
  • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and define API capabilities for battery state estimation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for sub-system issues and translate findings into revised requirements.
  • Participate in agile Scrum ceremonies and lead stakeholder discussions to align on behavioral requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in embedded software development.
  • Strong expertise in high-voltage battery systems and hardware-software interactions.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Must be able to report to Milford, Michigan at least 3 times per week.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting progress and recommendations to leadership.

Nice to have

  • Masters or PhD in Engineering with an emphasis on Controls.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and requirements management tools like DOORS NG.
  • Experience with ISO 26262 safety-critical systems and OBD regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
