Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Microcontrollers (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan; attendance required at least three times per week. Travel required for less than 25% of the role. Relocation benefits may be available for eligible candidates.

What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, and test low-level HWIO embedded software for automotive microcontrollers.
• Develop functionality for RTOS, memory, fault detection, power management, LIN, DMA, PWM, discrete I/O, and analog I/O.
• Use AUTOSAR MCAL configuration tools and hand-code solutions in Embedded C.
• Define testing strategies, document designs and test results, and verify compliance with technical requirements.
• Perform independent code reviews and troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, calibration, and requirements teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience using Embedded C.
• Expertise in AUTOSAR MCAL configuration and Complex Driver development.
• Hands-on experience with ARM, PowerPC, or Renesas microcontrollers and RTOS for multi-core systems.
• Understanding of schematics and basic electrical circuits, including root cause analysis across basic and application software.
• Experience with Lauterbach, ETAS INCA, CANalyzer, oscilloscopes, and independent work under tight schedules.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-R52, ARM Cortex-M7, or NXP S32Kxx microcontrollers.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
