Location: Remote (UK), with regular travel to South Devon. Candidate must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.

What you will do

• Act as the primary interface with the Naval Authority and international regulators.
• Interpret and apply complex standards including IMO MASS Code, ISO/IEC, and DEFSTA across various jurisdictions.
• Architect the Software Integrity Policy (SIP) and the framework for proving system integrity.
• Embed safety requirements into the early stages of the SDLC to mitigate the risk of retrospective engineering.
• Construct comprehensive Evidence Packages and oversee validation and verification (V&V) processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate abstract regulatory text into actionable technical requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Safety Engineer within the Maritime, Aerospace, or Defense sectors.
• Deep understanding of Software Integrity Levels (SIL) and their application in autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with Naval Authority Rules and the emerging IMO MASS regulatory landscape.
• Experience in a Lead or Head of capacity, fostering a safety culture across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to synthesize technical data into clear compliance reports for external auditors.
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance and ability to travel to South Devon on a regular basis.
