Optical System Engineer (Aerospace): Developing, validating, and integrating optical payloads within satellite systems across the lifecycle from proposal phase to launch with an accent on requirements engineering, interface definition, simulations, technical budgeting, and verification. Focus on designing optical system architectures, coordinating multidisciplinary development and testing, supporting ESA reviews and tenders, and managing complex system-level trade-offs.
Location: Onsite in Brno, Czech Republic; primarily considering candidates based in the EU or with existing eligibility to work in the EU.

What you will do
- Develop, validate, and integrate optical payloads within satellite systems from proposal phase through launch.
- Define and control interfaces, perform functional analyses and simulations, and conduct technical trade-offs and budgeting.
- Develop verification and validation strategies, system requirements, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support optical manufacturing, procurement, assembly, integration, and testing activities.
- Coordinate with mechanical, thermal, electrical, and software specialists, as well as subcontractors.
- Prepare proposals and participate in ESA tenders, customer discussions, system reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in aerospace, optical, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field.
- 3–5 years of experience in aerospace, optics, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of optical system engineering, payload design, requirements engineering, validation, and specification.
- Experience with satellite system development, interface definition, trade-offs, technical budgeting, optical manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- Experience with technical reviews, proposal preparation, subcontractor coordination, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Fluent spoken and written English is required; candidates should be based in the EU or already eligible to work in the EU.
