Junior Accountant

TL;DR

Junior Accountant (Finance): Day-to-day accounting operations including processing invoices, reconciling AP/AR ledgers, and supporting month-end closing with an accent on accurate records, timely reconciliations, and VAT/statutory compliance. Focus on maintaining clean general ledger entries, preparing bank reconciliations, and supporting monthly and quarterly reporting in a hybrid setup from Ghent.

What you will do

• Process and verify supplier invoices, credit notes, and expense claims; follow up on outstanding customer invoices and support collections
• Reconcile AP/AR ledgers and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Post journal entries and assist with monthly closing activities
• Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure transactions are correctly recorded
• Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
• Maintain organized financial records and support VAT declarations, statutory filings, and audit preparation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent; 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship/first job welcome)
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles
• Proficient in Excel; experience with an ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Exact) is required to be familiar (ERP experience is a plus)
• Fluent English
• Based in Belgium and able to work hybrid from the Ghent office
• Accurate, structured, and able to meet deadlines

Nice to have

• Dutch or another European language
• Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP
• Knowledge of Belgian VAT legislation
• Interest in process improvement and automation
• Exposure to a SaaS or tech company environment
