TL;DR
Software Engineer, Web Layer (C++/Chromium): Designing and implementing end-to-end infrastructure and features for the Codex desktop client application with an accent on the backend C++ layer and Chromium integration. Focus on building a hybrid agentic/interactive web browser and developing high-performance API designs.
Location: Hybrid in San Francisco (3 days in office per week). Relocation assistance is offered.

What you will do
- Partner with product and design teams to build Codex web browsing features for macOS and Windows.
- Develop the backend C++ layer and integrate with Chromium.
- Design and implement high-performance APIs in C++.
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Python, TypeScript, and agentic skills.
- Collaborate with a small team to deliver a stable and secure application platform for client development.
Requirements
- Significant experience building technically complex features end-to-end.
- Strong proficiency in C++, particularly within browser environments like Chromium and Electron.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Clear and concise communication skills across diverse organizational roles.
- Self-directed approach to identifying and executing critical work.
- Must be based in or be able to relocate to San Francisco, USA.
Nice to have
- General knowledge of web development and TypeScript.
