What you will do

• Extend the ML data platform to improve dataset management, discoverability, and quality assessment.
• Build scalable visualization tooling for exploring embedding spaces and semantic representations.
• Design and implement interactive data exploration interfaces for research workflows.
• Apply emerging research in visualization for ML and data-centric AI to platform design.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to bridge the gap between model development and data infrastructure.
• Present work to internal stakeholders and contribute to academic publications.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, HCI, Data Science, or related fields.
• Strong background in data management, modeling, indexing, and visualization.
• Familiarity with ML workflows and researcher tooling.
• Solid understanding of deep learning fundamentals and experience with PyTorch.
• Proficiency in Python and visualization libraries.
• Must be available to work full-time in Atlanta, GA for 12 weeks between September and December 2026.

Nice to have

• First-authored publication at top venues like IEEE VIS, CHI, or SIGKDD.
• Expertise in visualization research for ML, including dataset cartography or latent space visualization.
• Hands-on experience building dataset dashboards or annotation UIs.
• Experience with scalable data processing and model training.
