Tax Intern (Tax Technology & AI)

TL;DR

Tax Intern (Tax Technology & AI): Supporting global tax functions through technology-enabled, data-driven automation initiatives with an accent on process optimization and analytics. Focus on designing AI-assisted workflows, building Power BI dashboards, and automating tax data processes.

Location: Hybrid in Montreal, QC. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and meet Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements.

What you will do

• Support Canadian, U.S., and international tax compliance, including data preparation and reconciliations.
• Design and prototype AI-assisted agents to automate tax reconciliations and working papers.
• Develop automation tools and workflows using advanced Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.
• Assist with indirect tax (GST/HST, QST, VAT) validation and logic testing.
• Perform data quality and control checks to ensure completeness and accuracy of tax data.
• Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for continuous improvement of tax processes.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or Information Systems.
• Advanced Excel skills, specifically pivot tables, formulas, and Power Query.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to process large, structured datasets.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Must meet Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate, SQL, or Python.
• Familiarity with AI agent concepts, workflow orchestration, and prompt logic.
• Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Bilingualism in English and French.
