Scientist II, Research Associate (CMP)

Location: Aurora, Illinois, United States; laboratory work required at the Aurora facility at least 80% of the time

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 per year

What you will do

• Execute experiments involving slurry and cleaning formulations, measurement method development, and process development.
• Perform wet-lab, polishing, product reliability, formulation, wet-chemistry, and instrument studies.
• Design experiments with guidance from formulation scientists and engineers.
• Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical tools and identify trends, outliers, conclusions, and next steps.
• Improve data collection, analysis, and quality methods.
• Support laboratory safety and operational efficiency through equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and safety committee leadership.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on wet chemistry and characterization instrumentation experience in an industrial environment.
• Experience with particle and surface science techniques, including PSD, zeta potential, contact angle, and thin-film measurements.
• Ability to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and communicate conclusions clearly.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and statistical analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or JMP.

Nice to have

• Experience with slurry and pCMP applications.
• Background in specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or semiconductor consumables.
