Salary: $106,000 - $145,750

What you will do

• Support the installation, configuration, and operation of software components across staging and production mainframe environments.
• Lead and manage relationships with mainframe vendors regarding upgrades, maintenance windows, and downtime.
• Develop and maintain CICS and batch caller applications, including troubleshooting and debugging in collaboration with downstream teams.
• Perform performance testing and tuning to optimize processing speed and memory usage.
• Design and program Java applications following industry-standard software engineering practices.
• Collaborate with technical writers to create and maintain install manuals and user guides for mainframe software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of software development experience, or HS diploma with 10+ years.
• 10 years of software engineering experience on the mainframe.
• 5 years of mainframe administration experience.
• Experience supporting and working within IBM’s mainframe environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship (e.g., H1B).

Nice to have

• Experience with COBOL/VSAM, BAL, OS/JCL, CICS, TSO, MVS, and SCLM source control.
• Proficiency in Java (OSGI), object-oriented design, and IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• Knowledge of build automation tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, Ant) and agentic AI tools like GitHub Copilot.
• Working knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, or MSSQL.
• Experience with health information systems, healthcare claims processing, and Agile Scrum.
