TL;DR

Consultant – Evidence Synthesis (Humanitarian Research): Generating foundational evidence synthesis to reframe workforce capacity as core humanitarian infrastructure in child protection with an accent on literature reviews and case study development. Focus on linking capacity strengthening to child-level outcomes and documenting innovative L&D solutions under resource constraints.

Location: Remote (Global)

Salary: $10,500 (Total fee for 6 months)

What you will do

  • Conduct a rapid review and synthesis of published and grey literature linking capacity strengthening to program quality and child-level outcomes.
  • Develop a coherent evidence narrative and a concise, advocacy-ready Evidence Brief targeted at donors and senior leadership.
  • Design and conduct remote interviews with key stakeholders to develop 2-3 illustrative case studies.
  • Coordinate with Alliance AME and L&D Working Groups to validate findings and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Prepare and present results at an online dissemination event to promote capacity sharing.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or above) in social sciences, international development, child protection, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in research, evidence synthesis, or program evaluation in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews and evidence syntheses on social or child protection topics.
  • Strong understanding of the humanitarian child protection sector and familiarity with Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS).
  • Proven ability to produce clear, advocacy-oriented knowledge products for non-specialist audiences.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.
  • Familiarity with workforce development and L&D approaches in humanitarian settings.
  • Experience with evidence mapping or systematic review methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of French or Arabic.
