What you will do

• Own the technical direction of the core data platform, including pipelines, infrastructure, orchestration, and reliability standards.
• Lead architectural decisions for cloud data infrastructure, balancing scalability, cost, security, and performance.
• Manage and develop a team of data engineers and line managers, fostering a culture of high engineering craft and continuous improvement.
• Drive operational excellence across the platform through improved observability, data quality, and incident management.
• Collaborate with BI, Data Science, and other engineering teams to align on data contracts and enterprise OKRs.
• Recruit and hire high-caliber data engineering talent to scale the platform organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern PaaS data stacks (Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow, dbt).
• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing other managers.
• Deep expertise in Snowflake schema design, query optimization, and cost governance.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS services, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Must be based in New York, New York (Hybrid).

Nice to have

• Experience building data platforms for ML/AI workloads, including feature and vector stores.
• Background in regulated environments such as fintech, HR tech, or healthcare.
• Experience with streaming/CDC technologies like Kafka, Debezium, or Estuary.
