What you will do

• Lead and grow a team responsible for systems supporting hundreds of millions of orders globally, from creation through post-fulfillment.
• Own building and operations for the global Orders Platform, including the core order lifecycle across live and async channels.
• Partner with senior engineers across Payments, Marketplace, and Fraud to set technical direction and make architecture trade-offs.
• Drive reliability and scale across the Orders Platform architecture.
• Maintain high correctness standards for recovery, refunds, cancellations, and terminal-state handling.
• Run strong team operating mechanisms: planning, execution visibility, on-call, incident response, rollout discipline, and production accountability.

Requirements

• Strong experience in backend or platform engineering and experience managing engineering teams in fast-moving environments.
• Track record operating high-scale systems where reliability, correctness, and user trust are critical.
• Experience with complex order/transaction/workflow-heavy systems, including state machines, asynchronous processing, or distributed jobs.
• Strong technical judgment to challenge designs, understand failure modes, and guide engineering trade-offs.
• Must live within commuting distance of the New York City hub.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with Python, Elixir, or Go (backend runs on Python and Elixir; Go for performance-sensitive components).
