Backend Developer (Rust/Crypto)

TL;DR

Backend Developer (Rust/C++): Designing and implementing low-latency streaming indexers for a decentralized trading venue with an accent on ingestion pipelines and distributed systems. Focus on consensus-based failover, memory layout optimization, and high-throughput async systems.

Location: Worldwide Remote or Office in New York City (USA). Relocation support to the USA is available in some cases.

Salary: $150,000 – $250,000 per year gross + tokens

What you will do

• Design low-latency ingestion pipelines, ensuring message ordering, deduplication, and backpressure handling.
• Implement consensus-based failover and snapshotting for resilience and leader coordination.
• Manage memory layout, allocation strategy, and hot-path locality.
• Coordinate with the infrastructure team to handle data persistence, cold storage, and historical reindexing.

Requirements

• Remarkable backend engineering experience in production environments using Rust or C++.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems design, including log replication, failure recovery, and consensus (Raft/Paxos).
• Deep familiarity with event-driven architectures, ordered delivery, and state machines.
• Experience with high-throughput async systems such as tokio, epoll, or io_uring.
• Proficiency in memory-safe performance tuning (preallocation, arena allocators, cache-line alignment).
• Experience with Linux internals, syscall-level tuning, and debugging with perf.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Go.
• Prior work on crypto data indexers, block explorers, or DeFi.
• Knowledge of low-level blockchain primitives, such as Merkle proofs and EVM logs.
• Contributions to open-source Rust or crypto infrastructure projects.
