Sr. Hardware Engineer (Display Optics)

Sr. Hardware Engineer (Display Optics): Designing and optimizing optical film stack architectures for next-generation automotive LCD displays with an accent on light management, luminance, and contrast ratio. Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Must be based in or be able to relocate to the USA.

What you will do

• Design and optimize optical film stack architectures for automotive interior displays.
• Select brightness enhancement and optical compensation films, including DBEF, BEF, diffusers, and polarizers.
• Conduct film stack simulations and ray tracing analysis to evaluate brightness, viewing angle, and color shift.
• Collaborate with display panel and material suppliers to validate film performance under automotive conditions.
• Analyze optical measurement data to investigate and resolve issues such as Mura and halo artifacts.
• Provide technical direction on DFM to ensure robust performance across the display supply chain.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Display Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in optical film stack design, display optics, or light management systems.
• Deep understanding of LCD optical architecture and polarization management films.
• Proficiency with optical simulation tools and characterization equipment (e.g., imaging colorimeters).
• No immigration sponsorship provided; candidates must have permanent US work authorization.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience working with Tier-2 display panel or film material suppliers.
• Knowledge of Mini LED backlight systems and their interaction with film stacks.
• Familiarity with optical bonding and cover glass stack integration.
