Field Engineer (Biotech)

Salary: $103,529–$115,032 per year

What you will do

• Test new hardware and software features in-house to identify issues before release.
• Perform acceptance testing and QC on new instruments prior to shipment.
• Travel to partner sites to install, maintain, and repair screening systems.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software problems using logs, schematics, and factory protocols.
• Coordinate instrument and consumable shipments and manage parts inventory.
• Contribute to SOPs, service procedures, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• BSc in Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or Biomedical Engineering with 5+ years of experience (or MSc with 2+ years).
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for hardware and software.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Must be able to work onsite in Emeryville, CA and travel up to 50% of the time.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and work in various laboratory environments.
• Experience documenting service activities and producing detailed reports.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting high-throughput screening, single-cell, microfluidic, or imaging platforms.
• Familiarity with antibody discovery workflows or biotech R&D environments.
