What you will do

• Own the technical health, architecture, and quality of the Payments Platform, including release cycles and sprint processes.
• Drive architecture decisions for the API gateway, EventBridge event infrastructure, webhooks, and reconciliation systems.
• Implement spec-driven development and AI-assisted delivery, improving technical specs and reducing manual overhead.
• Ensure API and event schemas meet financial-grade standards for idempotency, durability, and extensibility.
• Collaborate with leads in Online Contribution and Corporate Giving on cross-domain integration.
• Mentor engineers on the platform team and participate in candidate evaluation and interviewing.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a lead or technical leadership role.
• Deep expertise in payment systems and event-driven architecture (Stripe experience strongly preferred).
• Strong production experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS serverless infrastructure (Lambda, SQS, EventBridge).
• Understanding of financial correctness, including duplicate detection and partial failure handling.
• Must have valid US work authorization; sponsorship is not available.
• AI-first mindset with a track record of using AI coding tools to enable delivery.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with PCI compliance requirements in a SaaS context.
• Experience with API schema governance or payment risk and fraud detection systems.
• Background in nonprofit, civic, or political technology.
• Experience designing or operating AI agents in production engineering workflows.
