Software Engineer (GovTech)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Fullstack): Developing features for public sector services using a language-agnostic approach with an accent on TDD and clean architecture. Focus on delivering high-impact outcomes for users through iterative agile development across various tech stacks.

Location: Hybrid (3 days a week onsite in Swansea, UK). Must be eligible for SC clearance (requires 5 years UK residency)

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 / year

What you will do

• Develop and plan features using a "right tool for the job" mentality across various languages (Java, Ruby, Python, .NET, React).
• Write high-quality code using Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Work with databases such as Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Implement and manage services on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Mentor other engineers and champion Clean Architecture and SOLID principles.
• Deliver software iteratively within an Agile (Scrum/XP/Kanban) environment.

Requirements

• Eligibility for SC clearance (requires 5 years UK residency and employment history).
• Comfortable working with a variety of programming paradigms (OOP, functional, declarative, etc.).
• Willingness to learn and adapt to multiple different tech stacks.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams alongside product and design.

Nice to have

• Experience with pair programming.
• Familiarity with architectural and design patterns.
• Strong presentation and showcasing skills.
