Model Risk Specialist (AI)

TL;DR

Model Risk Specialist (AI): Assessing and mitigating risks associated with machine learning models and AI systems with an accent on infrastructure, data governance, and MLOps pipelines. Focus on building tools, playbooks, and independent risk assessments to ensure the safety and reliability of advanced AI and agentic systems.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Hybrid work model requires office attendance at least 2-3 times per week.

What you will do

• Conduct independent reviews of data and infrastructure environments for AI/ML model development and deployment.
• Evaluate risks across the model lifecycle, including feature engineering, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring systems.
• Assess data governance practices, lineage, and access controls to identify potential impacts on model behavior.
• Develop tools, playbooks, and monitoring solutions to mature risk management practices.
• Collaborate with model and data platform teams to define and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
• Report risk status and findings to senior stakeholders and support regulatory inquiries.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based ML platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Understanding of Data Mesh architecture, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
• Experience with model monitoring concepts like drift detection and performance degradation tracking.
• English proficiency required for communication in a multicultural environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in model risk management, model validation, or 2nd/3rd line of defense roles.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as SR 11-7, SR 26-2, or NIST AI RMF.
• Experience with Spark or Scala.
