What you will do

• Create and execute test plans covering scale, stress, interoperability, and customer scenario testing for optical, data communication, and power over ethernet.
• Reproduce and debug customer-reported defects in the lab, then validate fixes with Customer Support and Software Development teams.
• Install, configure, and use network and signaling test tools (e.g., Teledyne, Sifos, Reach, Ixia) to emulate devices in test environments.
• Log and track failures in a bug tracking system; troubleshoot issues and coordinate with software and hardware teams to resolve them.
• Review functional specs and test plans, provide feedback, and manage schedules for assigned test efforts.
• Use and/or develop scripts and tools to facilitate testing, and assist/mentor less experienced Software Test Engineers.

Requirements

• BS in CE/EE with 1 year of experience or MS.
• Strong networking background with knowledge in two or more areas: power over ethernet, analog signals, optical communication, fiber optics, Ethernet network switches.
• Experience developing test methodologies.
• Experience configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or supporting Ethernet network switches.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Ixia, Spirent, Wireshark, tcpdump, and/or similar traffic generation or packet capture/analysis tools.
• Familiarity with at least one of: Linux, network management, or scripting.
