What you will do

• Lead hands-on hardware test plans, bench experiments, and characterization studies for complex electro-mechanical subsystems.
• Design and maintain test fixtures, harnesses, and lab setups for repeatable hardware evaluation.
• Build and improve automated test scripts and data analysis workflows using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
• Investigate complex hardware failures, perform root cause analysis, and validate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and software teams to improve design robustness.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in test methods, instrumentation use, and documentation.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Goleta, California.
• 4+ years of hardware test or product development experience (with a Bachelor's degree).
• Deep experience with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, and logic analyzers.
• Strong proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis.
• Proven experience in medical device development or other highly regulated product environments.
• Demonstrated success troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and optical hardware issues.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with imaging systems, camera technologies, optics, robotics, or motion control.
• Knowledge of standards related to electrical safety, EMC, or product reliability testing.
