What you will do

• Own the architecture and technical direction of the Search Engine and Indexing Pipeline.
• Design and implement zone-based delivery filtering and availability logic.
• Drive search relevance and ranking strategies in collaboration with product and data teams.
• Define versioned APIs and contracts for search and availability services.
• Lead technical design, code reviews, and architectural guidance for the team.
• Partner with Platform Engineering on observability, CI/CD, and shared service patterns.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship provided.
• Deep experience designing and tuning search engines like Vespa, Elasticsearch, or Solr.
• Strong proficiency in Go or willingness to adopt it as a primary language.
• Experience with real-time data pipelines and workflow orchestration tools like Temporal.
• Strong communication skills for collaborative system design and technical leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with Vespa search engine.
• Familiarity with geospatial systems and spatial filtering.
• Experience leading major search re-architectures.
