What you will do
- Define and deliver portfolio strategy, portfolio development, and financial performance for an international journal portfolio.
- Drive performance against agreed KPIs and ensure results are delivered within budget across hybrid, open access, and third-party-owned journals.
- Own portfolio expansion through launches, acquisitions, and rescopes, including building business cases and leading execution with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Build and maintain external networks with editors, societies, universities, and research communities; translate customer trends into strategic action.
- Act as China Strategy Lead by shaping and implementing the Social Science and Economics China plan within the China framework.
- Lead or contribute to cross-divisional initiatives and represent the Publishing Director across department and company-wide projects.
Requirements
- Significant journal publishing experience with deep understanding of journal development and the global publishing landscape and research policy environment.
- Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives and deliver commercial outcomes using data-driven decision-making, budget ownership, and KPI management.
- Track record of identifying and developing new opportunities, including launches and acquisitions.
- Ability to build and sustain high-level relationships in the international scientific community and translate customer needs into strategy.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to influence effectively across a matrix organization.
- Collaborative mindset to work across functions, cultures, and geographies.
